ABC of California is pleased to share an important advocacy win: SB 1185 (Cortese) was held on the Assembly Appropriations Suspense File and will not move forward this legislative session.
SB 1185 would have imposed unfair “skilled and trained” and prevailing wage requirements on the construction and maintenance of pharmaceutical facilities.
ABC CA opposed the bill because of the impact these requirements could have had on more than 80% of California’s construction workforce, local communities, and the cost of construction and maintenance throughout the state.
ABC CA Took Action
Leading up to the Assembly Appropriations suspense hearing, your ABC CA advocacy team worked directly to ensure the concerns of our industry and members were heard.
This is an important win for ABC CA, our members, and California’s merit shop construction industry.
Thank you to everyone who supported our advocacy efforts. ABC CA will continue monitoring legislation that impacts our industry and advocating for policies that protect competition, opportunity, and California’s construction workforce.
